Jamie Berry, Principal
A Principal of Tevis Insurance Solutions, Jamie Berry has been a licensed life and health insurance agent for nearly 20 years. As a consultant for employer groups, Jamie develops new and unique strategies for placement of products, including fully-insured, self-funded and association business.
Jamie began his career with Sutter Hospital’s insurance division and played an integral role in bringing a new HMO, PPO, Omni Health Plan and Sutter Preferred to the Sacramento market. Having gained a firm understanding of the managed health care systems during his five year tenure at Sutter, Jamie departed in 1994 and joined a small regional consulting firm as a health and welfare consultant. In 1999, he joined Intercare Insurance Solutions, a California brokerage and consulting firm, where he was tasked with starting their employee benefits practice. After a mere six months on the job, Intercare’s Employee Benefit division boasted more than 100 new clients. As one of the principals at Intercare, Jamie helped the company to grow from 60 employees to more than 450 with multiple locations in California, Washington and Illinois.
Jamie is a member of the California Association of Health Underwriters, National Association of Health Underwriters, California Manufacturing and Technology Association and California Association of Specialty Contractors. He is a past board member of Sacramento State University’s Stinger Foundation and, as a past scholarship athlete and member of the University’s football Hall of Fame, Jamie is still active in the Hornet football program.
Jamie earned a B.A. in Organizational Communication from California State University, Sacramento. He lives in Granite Bay with his wife and two children.
Mike Briare, Principal
Mike Briare has spent more than 18 years in the brokerage, consulting and technology arenas. As Principal at Tevis Insurance Solutions, he provides consulting services to a wide variety of clients, helping them to maximize the value of their benefits programs. He also works with various trade associations in developing programs to deliver to their members, including Workers’ Compensation programs and the development of unique health and proprietary insurance programs.
Early in his career, Mike served as a consultant with Sedgwick James, a division of Marsh and McLennan and as VP of TakeCare Health Plan, a California-based HMO. He also was VP of business development for Healtheon/Web MD where he established key relationships with top carrier executives, drove key sales and consulted with health care company executives on using Internet based technology to streamline operational processes.
Success at Healtheon/Web MD led to recruitment by ChannelPoint where Mike worked with the nation’s top brokerage and insurance companies to leverage e-commerce infrastructure and technology. As VP of strategic accounts, Mike and his team drove more than $15 million in revenue to the company. Prior to becoming a principal at Tevis, Mike served as a VP at Intercare Insurance Solutions where he managed the brokerage division.
Mike is a member of the California Association of Health Underwriters, California Manufacturing and Technology Association and California Association of Specialty Contractors.
Mike holds a B.S. in Finance and Economics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He resides in Granite Bay with his wife and four children and enjoys skiing, hunting and fishing.
Ryan Lloyd, Chief Operations Officer
Ryan Lloyd has been involved in the healthcare industry his entire professional career. As Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Lloyd is responsible for developing and directing Operational strategy for streamlining internal processes that can guarantee external success. These duties include, but are not limited to managing Tevis’ industry unique patient advocacy call center, as well as implementation and management of Tevis’ on-line value added human resources tools.
Prior to joining Tevis, Mr. Lloyd was most recently the Director of Operations for Intercare Insurance Solutions; the third largest brokerage firm in San Diego and prior to that, Director of Operations with ATRI, a cutting edge company focused on creating the first National Health Exchange Network. His responsibilities included managing employees leveraged to succeed as multifaceted financial vehicles for large provider network groups handling thousands of medical claims per day. Mr. Lloyds’s technical approach to industry solutions provides the firm with an exemplar advantage over the competition.
Mr. Lloyd began his career employed by Sutter Health as the regional Procurement Officer and head of Collections efforts that resulted in obtaining several hundreds of thousands of dollars in recovered losses. He was also among the first wave of college graduates to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in eBusiness which was designed to blend business management and information technology to address the emerging field of e-Commerce and e-Business. Ryan is an active member of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce.
Glen A. Bauer, Vice President
As Vice President of Tevis Insurance Solutions, Glen Bauer develops creative employee benefit solutions for clients while controlling overall cost through Health Reimbursement Arrangements, Health Savings Accounts, partial or full self-funding and supplemental policies combined with high-deductible health plans.
In 1987, Glen co-founded a sports and automotive business that grew to employ 115 and include retail, wholesale and manufacturing segments with sales exceeding $15 million. As a result of this experience, Glen has the unique ability to evaluate a benefits program from the employee/ employer perspective as well as that of the broker.
Glen lives in Granite Bay with his wife and two children. He coaches youth soccer and baseball and is involved in Bayside Church.
Scott Page, Associate Vice President
Scott brings 15 years of benefits experience to Tevis Insurance
Solutions. With national health carrier background, Scotts experience
with groups distributed across many states and locations, gives Scott
an insight into the challenges of managing, communicating and
administrating benefits for employers.
Prior to joining Tevis Scott earned a wealth of experience working for a national TPA, administering the single largest group of physicians in group practice, Medical Group Managers Association (MGMA) life and health programs.
Known for his strong technical knowledge of billing, data and eligibility systems, Scott has a background in data analytic modeling and ministerial outsourcing, alternative funding and ASO administration.
Scott is active in several service clubs and charities in San Francisco and the East Bay and sits on the Board of the San Francisco Circus Center and the Board of Governors of the Lake Merit Breakfast Club and past president of the MSMC.
Scott is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Moraga CA.
Dawn Almanzor, Senior Account Manager
Dawn Anderson has managed hundreds of accounts over the course of her career, and brings more than 20 years experience to her position as Senior Account Manager at Tevis Insurance Solutions. In this capacity, she serves as the main point-of-contact for benefit issues for 100 employer groups and assists employee benefits brokers with marketing and customer service. Dawn has conducted group health enrollment meetings around the United States and acted as a Group and Member Services Rep/Trainer for the Health Insurance Plan of California. Most recently, she was Senior Account Manager for Intercare Insurance Solutions, a California brokerage and consulting firm.
Dawn earned a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from California State University, Sacramento. She lives in Roseville.
Jessica Bentson, Senior Account Manager
Jessica Bentson brings more than five years of industry experience to her position as Senior Account Manager at Tevis Insurance Solutions. She is responsible for coordinating the marketing and servicing of all accounts, negotiating benefits and rates and handling the administrative requirements for existing clients specifically related to claim payments, billing and service issues. Prior to joining Tevis, Jessica served as Account Manager at Chandlee Insurance Agency.
Jessica graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She resides in Sacramento.
Jennifer Copperberg, Account Manager
As Account Manager at Tevis Insurance Solutions, Jennifer Copperberg assists clients with renewals, claims, personnel issues, enrollments, terminations and COBRA. Prior to joining the insurance industry, she was employed at an assisted living facility for the memory impaired for six years.
Jennifer graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in History and B.S. in Biology. In addition to her work at Tevis, she serves as Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Bella Vista High School. She lives in Citrus Heights and enjoys reading, hiking and sudoku.
Michelle Zuniga, Principal
Michelle Zuniga has been working in the Human Resources
field for over 15 years. As a consultant to small and large
employers, Michelle offers a unique approach to her clients,
by leveraging their human resource assets to foster and
achieve desired business results while reducing legal
exposures. Michelle began her career with the Sacramento
Kings as Human Resource Manager. In an environment with
six collective bargaining agreements and over 800 full and part time employees, Michelle was integral in staffing, reducing worker’s compensation claims by over 40% and bringing peace between management, unions and employees. After six years with Capitol Sports and Entertainment, Michelle was recruited over to join Northern California’s #1 Mechanical Contracting firm, Beutler Corporation in 1997.
During her 10 years with Beutler Corporation she grew the human resource capital from 350 employees to over 1500. With the rapid growth and challenges that brings, Michelle and her HR team worked diligently to identify and implement Human Resource Solution strategies. Focusing on retention, reducing turnover, and developing strategic business plans that aligned with corporate goals. Michelle has a proven track record and expertise in all facets of Human Resources, including recruiting, orientation, compliance, worker’s compensation, training, benefits, dispute resolution and investigations, separations, employee engagement and company culture. Michelle has been a member of Society for Human Resource Management Association since 1992. Michelle earned her Human Resource Certificate from UC Davis in 1994. Michelle served as a Board Member for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She was a member of the Team in Training effort to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society completing a 100 mile bike ride around Lake Tahoe in 2004.
Alfred B. Fowler, Attorney At Law
Alfred B. Fowler brings more than 38 years of overall experience in welfare benefit plan design, financing and compliance to his position as ERISA counsel at Tevis Insurance Solutions. A private practice attorney for more than 18 years, Alfred specializes in employee benefit matters, providing legal and technical support to large and regional insurance brokers with regard to welfare plan benefits, cafeteria plans, communications and compliance with ERISA and other legislation affecting welfare plans such as COBRA, FMLA and HIPAA. He also sits as trust counsel for various ERISA welfare plan trusts and is a frequent speaker on employee benefit matters.
Prior to entering into private practice, Alfred spent nine years in welfare plan consulting practice providing services to large corporate clients, law firms, public agencies, and tax exempt organizations, and 11 years in group insurance sales, account management, and product development for New York Life. He also served as Senior Manager at Price Waterhouse where his duties included management and promotion of the welfare plan consulting practice on a nationwide basis with the Employee Benefits Practice unit of the firm’s tax department.
Alfred earned a B.A. from St. Mary’s College and a law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He lives in Kentfield, CA.
Robert Moe, Certified Public Accountant
A Certified Public Accountant for more than 19 years, and a specialist in the filing of IRS Form 5500 for welfare and retirement benefit plans, Robert Moe serves as a consultant at Tevis Insurance Solutions. In his private practice, Robert also performs auditing services for 401(k) plans, retirement plans, pension plans and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). Using state-of-the-art software to assure compliance with filing requirements, Robert’s practice manages the preparation of more than 1,000 returns annually.
Robert graduated from California State University, Northridge with a B.S. in Accounting. He resides in Lake Forest.
